Nature Walks
There are several ways to enjoy nature, apart from exploring the beautiful landscapes and wildlife, nature walks also provide our clients with the opportunity to see other aspects of Tanzania, wildlife, magnificent landscapes, marine life, and the local people.
Rainforest Walk
This is one of the best walks that we offer our clients, it takes us through different routes across the indigenous rainforest located at the foothills of Mt. Meru which is not very far from the lodge. Oftentimes, we spot the rare black and white colobus monkeys and blue monkeys at close range. It is an experience you will not like to miss, the beauty of the landscape is breathtaking, with a brilliant climate, you can easily spot butterflies that are attracted by the natural springs in the forest and also several birds like hornbill or marabou storks and ibis. This walk will last for an estimated time of 2.5 hours and it can be combined with a visit to the local market which is in the nearby village on Sundays and on Thursdays.
USD 20 per person
Village Walk
The village walk offers you the chance to experience “A True African Lifestyle”, this walk is a total of 2 ½ hours and it extends a bit beyond the Safaris car experience and the lodge. Leading you right into the middle of the action of the everyday life of the African people in Tanzania. Although you will walk on dusty tracks and pass through burning litter while walking, you will enjoy the warmth and friendship of the local people which you will find incredible. You will also get insights into some grass root initiatives such as the Usa River Children Center which is run by one of our staff members living in the village.
USD20 per person
Coffee Walk
Ten minutes walk away from Arumeru River Lodge, you will see the village that was established by 20 coffee farmers and they jointly process their harvests and also market their coffee. The starting point for the coffee walk is the missionary church and this leads you through the beautiful banana and coffee fields of the village and then reaches the central coffee processing facility. The central coffee processing facility is where you will learn about the main processes of coffee production. The two-hour walk will climax with a visit to the coffee roasting facility where you will have the chance to try out the coffee at the production location. Indeed, this walk appeals to the senses of the tourists and you will be glad you were part of it.
USD 30-45 depending on the number of people including transfer.
